Mise-en-scene Photo

MISE-EN-SCENE PHOTO ASSIGNMENT      In this assignment I was tasked to chose a prompt from a list and create a sketch relating to that prompt. After planning out the sketch like the background, lighting, and props; I was tasked to set up the sketch in real life trying to follow everything as close as possible. The prompt that I chose was "Closer then you think". The mise-en-scene helps express the representation making sure the picture is visible showing what I'm looking for and the placement of the egg that is right above my head even though it seems I cant find it. I made the decisions in shooting to tie the egg to my fishing rod and to draw the egg with yellow and black, I also decided to shoot It at an angle that shows all of the key elements like the egg, picture, darkness, and tree. I also edited the picture slightly to make sure the egg was visible in the picture.

Mise-en-Scene Analysis

F or this assignment I was tasked to make a five slide presentation reviewing some visual elements found in the film shot that I selected. In the first slide was the blank shot, the second slide contained a description of the camera angles, and distance of shot. The third slide described the lighting, colors, and brightness. Slide 4 contained the placement in regards of the camera and where the focus is guided. In the final slide I talked about the depth of field and space. The still shot that I chose was a still shot of Spiderman looking at the camera at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man. The reason I chose this shot was because I loved Spiderman as a child and I felt that the shot had a deeper meaning then most may first think. Everything I identified lends itself into the tone of Spiderman being the secretive hero and savior of his city. Lighting was a big part of highlighting Spiderman as a big hero and the camera angle helped signify who we should be looking at.

Camera Work Techniques

Pan: This shot is a shot that steadily goes from either left to right or right to left. My experience creating this shot was very simple as i paned the school and everyone recording their own shots. Whip Pan: Is similar to a pan but is very fast creating a blur between 2 objects. My experience creating this shot was I had my mom and my grandma pretend like they were having a real conversation as i quickly moved between both of them. Tilt: The tilt shot is a shot that goes from up to down or down to up. My experience creating this shot was influenced when Ms. Flaten gave us the idea to focus on this pole for out tilt. Dolly Shot:  a shot that is normally filmed on a dolly that steadily follows an object normally on a horizontal or vertical axis. My experience creating this shot was I was sitting in a chair with wheels while my grandma pushed me as I was following my mom walking straight. Handheld: As in the name, a shot used simply by human hands, normally a little shaky and ...

Collage

The assignment that I was given for this Collage was to take 11 different pictures all with different camera shots. The process I went through for this assignment was first, finding an object to take the different shots with. I originally planned on using my dog but then realized it would be hard to keep them still so I chose one of my sisters plush parrots. My experience creating the shots wasn't very difficult as I had my dad help me because he's a videographer for reality TV so he knows all of the shots. He helped guide me where to put my camera and the different angles making it very easy to complete this assignment. By: Nico Alves
