Film Opening Storyboard

Image
i was tasked to create a story board for my 2 minute film opening that showed the characters, camera movements, editing notes, sound notes, and a brief description of the scene so I can use it when creating my film opening. the though process of me visualizing the film is how i could push the boundaries of a scary movie with jump scares but also make it enjoyable to watch. I plan to use good music that the main character listens to and an upbeat start to trick watchers into later experiencing a much darker experience. I felt POV shots would help bring intensity to the situations and the mysteriousness of why he goes on these walks and who this figure is helps make it a good film opening

Film Opening Screen Play

Image
This screenplay i was assigned to do is meant for me to start finalizing my film opening showing the different sounds, camera angles, and actions of my characters and how it relates to the storyline. I utilized the my film opening concept to help chose the characters actions and environment. FADE IN: INT. JOSH’S BEDROOM – NIGHT A dimly lit bedroom. The glow of a monitor screen fills the room. JOSH (late teens) sits on his chair keyboard and mouse in hand, focused on a video game. On screen: he dies The sound cuts out. Suddenly— BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. Josh JUMPS, startled. He looks at his phone alarm. ALARM LABEL: “Go on your walk.” Josh sighs, annoyed, then rubs his face. He gets up quickly. INT. JOSH’S BEDROOM – CONTINUOUS Quick shots as Josh gets ready: --air pods in ear listening to music playing loudly in the background — pulling on his hoodie — slipping on his glasses — tying his shoes (one lace hangs loose) — grabbing his headphones He doesn’t notice the untied lace. Josh opens t...

Film Opening Concept

Image
this goal of this assignment is to help me better visualize the elements of my film opening and help write the screen play for my film opening in the future. I was tasked to start analyzing the characters, sound, and environments. Concept • Horror • 13+ • An anxious kid feels like hes being watched, he thinks walks are his escape from this feeling. One night he goes on a walk feeling good but gets attacked by a black figure. He wakes up thinking it was a dream but we see the figure still lurking behind him. • Eerie, creepy, suspenseful Opening Purpose The information the opening is going to communicate is the house he lives in, his anxiety, the conflict being the black figure following him, and the mood being him not knowing what’s happening, so he is creeped out all the time. The questions being raised will be why he Is so anxious, why he does on walks and why is it so urgent, and finally why is he being attacked. The opening is going to hook the viewer as the audience will be ab...

MoodBoard

Image
The assignment was to create a mood board for my film opening and then explain the creative decisions behind it. The mood board was used to visually represent ideas such as characters, setting, tone, and overall style. The purpose was to show how visual influences help shape the look, mood, and atmosphere of my film before production begins. Character Portraits The character portraits were chosen to represent the main character(s) in the film. I focused on facial expressions, body language, and clothing to suggest personality and emotional state. These images help the audience quickly understand the type of character they are watching. The choices also help establish the tone of the film early on. Setting / Location The setting images were selected to show where the story takes place. Locations were chosen because they support the genre and atmosphere of the film. These visuals help establish the world of the story and make it feel believable. The setting a...

Target Audience

Image
The assignment was to create an audience survey about films using a survey tool like google forms. The survey needed to focus on a specific film genre and include demographic questions such as age. The goal was to collect audience preferences to help inform the planning of a film opening. The survey had to include 7-10 questions and be used to gather real audience data of 50-75. To create my survey, I first decided on what information would be most useful for understanding my audience, such as how old they are, if they enjoy horror movies, and how much they enjoy them. I used artificial intelligence to give me ideas for questions and I used some in my survey and created some questions on my own. I used google forms because it is the easiest to use and uses a clear format. How i got my responses was sending my link to family, friends, and classmates. the things i found through his survey shows most people enjoyed the horror genre and were 17 and younger. a lot of people feel tense ...

Decoding Film Titles- "The Art of The Title"

Image
The assignment I was given was to analyze 2 film openings of the genre i've chosen for my opening which is horror. I was tasked to focus on the camera work, editing, sound, and visuals that create the mood and suggest the horror genre. Then I had to explain why the choices were effective and compare the two openings to show how each one prepares the audience differently for the rest of the film. A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) The title opening sequence in “A Nightmare on Elm Street” (1984) instantly gives viewers a feel of discomfort and unease. Director Wes Craven employs use of unclear images and sound effects. This makes it unclear to the viewer, at least in the beginning, exactly which setting they are in or who it is they are viewing. This method, however, serves well in a horror film since it places the audience in the same predicament as the characters. The horror element is obviously indicated by the eerie setting and weird visions. The beginning of the sequence anticipa...
