 SOUND DESIGN PROJECT


    In this project, Me and 3 others were tasked to practice scoring on a short film that has no music. We had to randomly chose 1 of 3 short films and look for copyright free music that matched the tone of the chosen film. We were to align all of the music with the actions of the characters and upload the finished project to canvas.



Each of my group members took on 30 seconds of the film and my contribution to the project was to add music to the last 30 seconds of the short film. In this 30 seconds we see the main character happily walking on the sidewalk so I added some fun music as he walks. The music starts to shift to sad music as he sees someone that is alone and sad on the sidewalk, the music ends and we shift to a happier tone as the main character tries to help this man be more joyful. The reason I did these changes was because looking at my groups work I was able to see how the main character acted before being happy and it gave me the idea of having the music shift a bunch and overall be heart warming in the end. The process me and my group went through to have a well thought project was sharing ideas and discussing the tone of the film together.

 In this project me and a group of 3 were tasked to chose from a list of prompts and create an environment around the prompt. We were to have atleast 4 foley sounds in this environment a the rest of the sounds were to be taken from a copyright free sound effects website. The scene: A dark night in the woods, walking with only a lantern as the light source, you hear echoing all throughout the forest and the sounds of dogs barking, the sound of leafs and branches crack under your feet. Foley Sounds: Stepping in grass, this effect was very easy to create as we had daniel walk in the grass for about 15 seconds. Breaking branches, this effect was also easy as we had to find a big pile of branches and step on them. Stepping on rocks, same as the others in difficulty as it isn’t very hard to find rocks near us. Editing Techniques

      EDITING TECHNIQUES ASSIGNMENT       In this assignment me and my partner were tasked to create 8 scenes all representing a different editing technique. Each scene had to have a title card with the editing term, the title of the scene, and the scene that we put together. Sound had to be included in each scene and each scene had to be edited. The first technique we used was the shot reverse shot, the prompt we did was 2 people arguing. During the filming process my partner filmed me and my other friend pretending to argue. The second technique we did was a jump cut and the prompt we did was working overtime. my partner filmed himself at the day time going to his computer and working, it cuts to him later at nights tired like he’s been working all day.   The assignment that I was given for this Collage was to take 11 different pictures all with different camera shots. The process I went through for this assignment was first, finding an object to take the different shots with. I originally planned on using my dog but then realized it would be hard to keep them still so I chose one of my sisters plush parrots. My experience creating the shots wasn't very difficult as I had my dad help me because he's a videographer for reality TV so he knows all of the shots.
