Editing Techniques

    EDITING TECHNIQUES ASSIGNMENT

In this assignment me and my partner were tasked to create 8 scenes all representing a different editing technique. Each scene had to have a title card with the editing term, the title of the scene, and the scene that we put together. Sound had to be included in each scene and each scene had to be edited.

The first technique we used was the shot reverse shot, the prompt we did was 2 people arguing. During the filming process my partner filmed me and my other friend pretending to argue. The second technique we did was a jump cut and the prompt we did was working overtime. my partner filmed himself at the day time going to his computer and working, it cuts to him later at nights tired like he’s been working all day. The third technique we used was cross cutting where it was me on the phone trying to call someone, the camera then cross cuts to someone phone ringing and then picking it up. The fourth technique we used is the wipe where we filmed me walking into one door then wiping to me walking out another door. The fifth technique we used was a graphic match cut where my partner lit a lighter then it transitioned to a lightbulb being on. The sixth technique we used was the fade in and fade out where I pretended to fall asleep then it fades into my dream where it is my friend making a silly face. The seventh technique we used was the cutaway where it showed my classmate working very hard on their computer then it cuts to me slacking off falling asleep on my computer. The final technique we did was the dissolve where it showed me reading a book then getting a good idea.
